Direct communication with coverholders

If our coverholders have an issue, we help find a resolution. If our coverholders have a problem with moving into a different country or territory (because they have an opportunity to write more business) either our class underwriters would ask me to research it, or our coverholders would come direct to me, or a member of the DUM team. Understanding the right approach is key.

I have spent most of my life putting clients first, having worked on the broking side for 38 years of my career. This is my only venture into the underwriting side, and it is no different. Without a good relationship with the client we cannot understand their business. 

Sometimes we have to advise a client to change something for the good of their business or to comply with regulation, but it’s how we advise them, and explaining the reasons for the change, that makes the difference.
